Good news those who held off on making a decision to buy a Molmic sofa when the average lead time was far to long. Molmic are back to an 8 – 9 week production time for your custom, Australian Made in Melbourne sofa.

Naturally we all can recognise the past and post pandemic years tested the limits of factory production. Close to home was no exception with Victoria’s rolling lockdowns, some up to 3 months long at a time, tested Molmic’s capacity to keep up with what the largest demand for home furnishings known in this century.  

Many suppliers of quality furniture source their materials from all over the world, be it fabric, timber or foam. This left them vulnerable to supply delays or even cancellations when the pandemic led to widespread lockdowns. Even as factories re-opened, staff numbers were severed as employers battled the continuing effects of Covid, such as social distancing rules and employee illness.

Ironically at the same time, demand had never been higher. As government guidance (and common sense) dictated that we spend more time at our homes, which birthed a necessity to invest in suitable home office (desks, lamps and office chairs) and improve our existing living areas with sofas to make our space more comfortable and stylish and make the ‘new normal’ more bearable. This brought an economic boost to the furniture industry but put huge strain on a depleted workforce and supply chain.

Through dedication however, Molmic is again experiencing normal and consistent lead times. A big thank you to these hard working craftspeople we admire their dedication to the Australian made!
